Game Club

Linkki’s game club was founded in 2024 and works much like Linkki’s book club. The idea is to choose a game together that fits the theme of the round, play it through on your own time, and then gather to discuss what everyone thought of it. The game club is a chance to step outside your comfort zone and play games you might never have picked up yourself. You might even find a new favourite in a completely unexpected genre.

Games and gatherings are discussed in the game club’s Telegram group, and gatherings are usually held on Thursdays at coctail bar DeLorean. The game club’s process goes roughly like this:

1. At the end of a gathering, we choose the theme for the next game. It can be anything that comes to mind at the moment.
2. Suggest games fitting the theme in the group.
3. Vote on the suggestions to pick the next game.
4. Everyone buys and plays the chosen game.
5. We gather and return to step 1.

You don’t have to finish the game to take part in the gathering. Of course, you may run into spoilers that way, so proceed at your own risk!

What games can be suggested?

Since the game club doesn’t sponsor game purchases, and video games (as well as the consoles to play them on) usually cost a few euros, the game club has a few rules for suggestions:

1. The game must be playable on PC. So no Switch, PlayStation, XBOX, etc. exclusives.
2. The game must be purchasable from an “official” game store, such as Steam, GOG, Humble Store, XBOX, etc. The game club’s organizer has the final say on whether a store is accepted.
3. The price of the game at the time of voting must be at most 20€. Newer games therefore need to be bought during sales.

I recommend looking up the game you want to suggest on a site like isthereanydeal, which shows any discounts for the game in “official” stores.
